Thomas Wentworth Strafford letter to King Charles I, 1641 May 4.

The collection consists of a long handwritten letter from the imprisoned Strafford to Charles I, 4 May 1641, eight days before his execution. The letter laments his current circumstances, is supportive of Charles, and warns him against Parliament and the bill they are considering. Strafford understands Charles' position, and seems willing to have his fate rest in the king's hands, but asks mercy for his family.
